Hanul cu Tei is a historic building located in Bucharest, Romania. It is often referred to as "The Linden Tree Inn" in English. This charming inn has a rich history dating back to the 19th century.
The building was constructed in 1833 and originally served as an inn and tavern. Hanul cu Tei quickly became a popular gathering place for travelers, merchants, and locals. The name "Hanul cu Tei" is derived from the linden trees that used to surround the inn.
Over the years, the inn played a significant role in Bucharest's social and cultural life. It hosted various events, from literary gatherings to political discussions. The inn's charming architecture and cozy atmosphere have made it a symbol of the city's past.
Today, Hanul cu Tei stands as a historic landmark and a reminder of Bucharest's heritage. While it no longer operates as an inn, it has been restored and now houses various shops, restaurants, and cafes. Visitors can still appreciate its historical significance and enjoy its unique ambiance.

If you want to eat a totally tasteful pizza, go to that place. Main beer served is Heineken, but they have also local brands. The service is really great. This is a nice restaurant and a lot of TV if you want to watch a game. Did I tell you that the pizza is very good?

The shops were almost all closed on Sunday. So we were able to just see the building. It is interesting to think this is one of the oldest inns (from 1833), and still there and now used as a shopping centre.

Hanul cu Tei ("The Linden tree Inn") is one of the few still standing old inns in central Bucharest.
Important merchants of the time were hosted in this inn, including Constantin Atanasiu, who was to establish the store "La Vulturul de Mare cu Peştele în Ghiare" ("At the Sea Eagle holding a Fish in His Claws"), a building that still exists, hosting a bank nowadays, near the Cocor Store.
Today, the former inn is home to many art galleries and a cellar bar. Its ornate, forged iron gates provide access from both Lipscani and Blǎnari streets. It also provides a good example the typical Wallachian glass-covered façade, as the upper floor is covered by glass panels.
